Welcome to the Regional Biotech Council

The mission of the Regional Biotech Council is to provide a stimulating networking environment and strategic support for biotech entrepreneurs within the five county region of Southeastern Pennsylvania - Chester, Montgomery, Delaware, Philadelphia and Bucks.

The Regional Biotech Council is hosted by the Institute of Hepatitis and Virus Research, the research affiliate of the Hepatitis B Foundation, and funded in part by a grant from Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

A Legal Primer for Scientists, Entrepreneurs, and Biotech Companies

WHEN?
Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 4:00 PM at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center

WHO should attend?
This is a round‐table workshop to discuss legal issues in the biotechnology arena for:
• Researchers and scientists in transition or contemplating a new position.
• Individual entrepreneurs starting new biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies.
• Companies contemplating legal options during their growth and development.
• Investors concerned with legal pitfalls when considering financing startup companies.

WHAT?
The workshop will include senior legal experts in general practice areas such as:
• Employment Law (employment & non‐compete covenants, labor & management relations)
• International Trade Law (Chinese trade law, foreign joint ventures)
• FDA Law (drug and device development strategies, compliance)
• Patent and Trademark Law (Securing an IP portfolio, branding)
• Commercial Transactions (commercial lending, mergers & acquisitions)
• General Corporate (corporate structure, shareholder agreements)
• Early stage finance (friends and family/seed stage/angel stage/venture capital finance)

If you have concerns related to any of these legal topics, please submit your questions or comments in
advance and prior to the workshop

We will discuss the legal implications behind each question with an open question and answer forum.
Questions provided prior to the workshop will be treated anonymously and you are always welcome to followup
after the workshop or later with each attorney.
