Andrea Cuconati

Joseph F. Aceto, Ph.D., Esq.
      Dr. Aceto is a practicing attorney licensed in Pennsylvania and at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, having a primary practice (www.acetoIPLaw.com) in patent and trademark law in areas involving medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.  Dr. Aceto works with the IHVR and start-ups at the Biotechnology Center to fully develop an IP portfolio and further advance new discovery.
      Dr. Aceto works with individual inventors and scientists in drafting, filing, and matters related to the continued prosecution of patent applications in both the US and filings outside the US.  He also works with entrepreneurs and new start-ups to establish trademarks and other IP in their new business. He provides advice on legal matters involving intellectual property such as technology transfer, research and development, non-disclosure, and clinical development agreements.  He assists in license negotiations and other transfer agreements related to the technology, reviews and assists in establishing employment agreements as it relates to intellectual property and non-disclosure provisions and works with new companies in developing policies regarding the use and disclosure of corporate intellectual property. 
      In addition, he holds a position as Of-Counsel at Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel, LLP (www.Obermayer.com), a large law firm in Center City Philadelphia where he provides assistance to the firm’s corporate clients on various trademark and copyright matters, usually involving corporate transactions or product branding.
      Dr. Aceto also has the pleasure to serve as an adjunct faculty at the Commonwealth Medical College of Pennsylvania (www.thecommonwealthmedical.com) and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Drug Discovery Institute (www.padrugdiscovery.org), also located at the Biotechnology Center and created to advance the discovery of new drugs and accelerate the translation of discoveries into potential therapies.
