Yanming Du, Ph.D.

Dr. Yanming Du received his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Iowa with Professor David Wiemer, and had post-doctoral training with Dr. Allen Reitz at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development. Yanming joined Rib-X Pharmaceuticals where he conducted research in the lead optimization of macrolide derivatives against multi-drug resistant bacteria and pioneered in the design and lead generation of RX-04 program against Gram-negative infections. Yanming moved back to PA and worked at Fox Chase Chemical Diversity Center, where he designed and synthesized a novel family of sulfamide compounds demonstrating excellent anticonvulsant activity both in vitro and in mouse Maximal Electroshock Seizure (MES) test. In the current position within IHVR, Yanming employs synthetic tools to help advance compounds from in vitro to in vivo, focusing on development of novel compounds that can be effective against liver related diseases including HBV, liver cancer, and viral hemorrhagic fevers.
